Olivia – Senior Portrait – Class of 2010

Olivia came with her own list of places to visit in Tacoma. She loves this city like I do and has her favorite places.

First stop, the Sanford and Sons Library in downtown Tacoma. What a cool place. I can’t believe I have never been there before. There are a lot of really interesting shops in the basement of the antique store. You should check ‘em out.

She brought her favorite book along.
Harry Potter

And wore a really fun ring.

The second balcony is beautiful.

With interesting lights.

What a great place. It was pouring rain, so glad we decided to start with that spot. Next, the graffiti garages, since it is another place that can be used until the rain decides to stop. I was fortunate that Olivia loves the rain. We didn’t let it stop us!

I love this image! She reminds me of Drew Barrymore in this picture… I think it’s the mouth.

If you’ve lived in Tacoma all your life, you appreciate the Spanish Stairs. They are next to the old Elks Building and unfortunately they have fallen victim to vandalism. Olivia had them on her list. If you follow my blog you will recognize them, since I have used them many times.

No matter how many times I ‘ve been there I love them each time. They are so full of character and the lighting is great, even in the rain!

Olivia was squeezing the rain out of her dress after sitting on these steps, but I just had to have her sit on them. I love this shot!

Olivia’s parents, Paul and Amanda, came along. I’m so glad, since we got some great family shots. The love they have for Olivia just oozes from them both.

When I asked Amanda to tell me about Olivia this is what she wrote:

She is a poet
She is an actress
She loves Shakespere
She loves musical theatre ( she just had the lead in Stadium HS prod)
She sings opera
She loves to read
She loves Paris
She is an old soul
She loves the rain
She loves gardens
She loves old buildings
She loves to swing on the swings at Grant ( just like she was 5 again)
She has a great sense of humor
She is a deep thinker
She is very spiritual

Isn’t that precious!

Olivia is a beautiful girl and I can tell that she is very used to direction… it’s that theatrical background.

This is my favorite image of the shoot. It looks so Hollywood glam to me!

Olivia happens to live just houses from me and grew up playing at Grant elementary… always using the SAME swing.

The ground was wet, but that didn’t stop us. I got wet right along with her!

Often, after swinging, she walks down the nearby alleys. I like to do that too! Alleys are just so much more interesting than streets are. Have you ever noticed that?

I love the blonde streak she has in her dark hair. It’s like this little tucked away surprise.

I love this image, so does Amanda. Lovin’ my wide angle!

Thanks for enjoying Olivia with me… until next time, xoxoxo!

Hi Mom. Thanks for the blog dedication on Facebook.
You just keep getting better and BETTER!
I truly didn’t notice the full beauty of these photos until they appeared in a larger format.
Every shoot you do has a different vibe. Even though locations are re-used, the pictures are all different.
Better, and better, and better, and better, and better…

Wow (I must start every comment to you with “wow” – I’ll come up with something different next time). Each photo shoot tops the last one. The one with Olivia and her parents where everyone’s eyes are closed brought me to tears.

Connie - April 23, 2010 - 9:45 pm

Thanks Judith. That same photo brought me to tears too! No wonder we are friends :) .

Kari - April 23, 2010 - 10:57 pm

I don’t even know these people and I am teary too! Great job Connie! I wish there was someone fun like you around when I got my Sr. pictures. I just have plain ol Yuen Lui shots. I thought it was cool that I got to have an outfit change :) Your photos blow me away. Love the new sight!
