Hannah – Senior Portraits – Class of 2011 Part 2

Hannah is a Stanwood High School senior. You might remember her from a little while back. She wanted to split her session and just do a few the first time (mostly for the yearbook) with straitght hair. Then have another shoot deeper into the fall with curly hair.

Since the forecast said rain we decided to meet at Gas Works Park in Seattle.  I knew there was cover if we needed it and lots of colorful, fun pipes to work with.

Hannah is going to be a music therapist.  She is a fabulous pianist.  It’s not the easiest instrument to cart outdoors and get a picture of, so sorry, no piano pictures:(.

This is definitely HER season, wouldn’t you say? Hannah is using her grandma’s umbrella in these images. They are a few of my FAVORITES.

Gas Works is an interesting place for sure.  It has pipes, yes, but it also has other little areas we were able to use too.Seattle Senior Portraits

The color of Hannah’s hair is just stunning!Seattle Senior Portraits

Eye pictures are some of my favorites to do.  It’s fun to think of all the different ways to celebrate such a beautiful feature.  A red head with blue eyes… and a hint of soft hazel in the middle.  She is peaking over a newspaper umbrella.Seattle Senior Portraits

Something I have “noticed” lately about myself… I no longer study other photo blogs.  I do look at and support other photogs that I know, but other than that, I just don’t search for them any more.  I used to spend countless hours studying photography and trying to figure out why I liked a certain image or what kind of things grabbed me. I think this past year, I have just decided to do what is inside of me and because of that I feel much more at ease when taking photos. It’s just too easy to compare yourself to others with the internet world and believe me, the photography field is growing by leaps and bounds every single day and with all that staring at you daily it can easily lead to self doubt. I love what I do and I do it with pure joy, and in that I am at peace.

If it had been a clearer day, you would be able to see the Space Needle behind Hannah.  I have some spectacular night pictures taken from here.Seattle Senior Portraits

So cute in glasses!Seattle Senior Portraits

We found one area that was windy and colorful.Seattle Senior Portraits

The classic shot, of course!Seattle Senior Portraits

The first instinct is to take the hair out of your face, but I love the look of wind in pictures and instruct to just let the wind move the hair naturally.  I always like the outcome, even when it’s crazy windy.

We loved hanging our with you Hannah. I remember you telling me you didn’t want to be standing next to a tree and as I processed these pictures I realized I had you sitting next to a tree:). Hope that was ok – hahaha. {{hugs}}

These are so beautiful. I love that you have found your stride. In that, you are also beautiful.
