Amanda – Stadium High School/TCC – Class of 2016

Amanda’s a 2016 Stadium High School senior, but is also a full time running start student at TCC and will have her AA degree at the same time as her high school diploma. How awesome is that! This is our third senior session together and since Amanda is my daughter, there will be more! She likes to give each one a totally differnt look. The first was a super short mountain session since we got to a late start.  The second was a 50’s look at the WA State Fair grounds and this third one she wanted to experiment with the 60’s and a more city look.  Hair was done by my best bud, Misty Winesberry and the makeup was by Amanda.  It’s just one of her many passions and she’s so great at it!  Since I’ve talked about all of the normal senior stuff in past posts, with this one let’s just talk about Amanda and the images.

Amanda is a very confident girl.  She takes risks, which I really admire, since at her age I was definitely not much of a risk taker.  Don’t get me wrong, I did some very hard things that seemed risky, but only because I was forced to.  Amanda takes them on all on her own.  She tries new things and doesn’t consider failing.  She went from a 12 year “career” in ballet to being a Corporal in the Explorer’s Program with the Tacoma Police Department.  She still wears a bun haha, but now she can shoot a gun, defend herself, slap some handcuffs on a bad guy and has completed 2 boot camps scoring the top score in academics.

My favorite image is the one on the far left.  I love the look with wide eyes.  Very 60’s!  Usually when we plan a session there is the want of new clothes, but for this one, she just pulled out items she already owned.  We didn’t put a lot of pressure on ourselves either.  We just took our time with preparing and when it started getting a little cloudy before we anticipated we didn’t let it stress us.  We found a great spot, the light was perfect and it just all flowed.  Senior Girl Model Tacoma Stadium High Seattle Photographer Amanda_0013.jpg
With this season we knew we wanted something different.  I usually approach senior sessions with a type of formula in my head, but with this session I put that aside and had the freedom of experimenting with expressions, poses, atmosphere and editing style.  I try to stay very consistent in my sessions, but when asked, I love to try things that are out of the box for me and Amanda always requests that of me!  If you are a senior and want something different, just ask!  Art is art and should not be limited!Senior Girl Model Tacoma Stadium High Seattle Photographer Amanda_0014.jpg
Another favorite of mine.  I love the outfits she picked out!  Those knee high boots just takes it to that next level.Senior Girl Model Tacoma Stadium High Seattle Photographer Amanda_0015.jpg
Amanda loves to read.  She has stacks of books in her room and I know she dreams of reading them all.  She’s an intellectual like her brother, but uses it in a different way.  She loves to debate (also like her brother) and loves to talk politics and current affairs.  Senior Girl Model Tacoma Stadium High Seattle Photographer Amanda_0016.jpg
Amanda also loves fashion and glamour.  She doesn’t always get to use it in her daily life, but when she gets the chance to dress up and take time on the makeup, she loves it!  This girl has more makeup than anyone I know!  Senior Girl Model Tacoma Stadium High Seattle Photographer Amanda_0017.jpg

Amanda is also an awesome writer and I know as she goes through life it will be a great skill to have.  She is constantly told by teachers and professors that she is one of the best writers in the class.  She must get that from her daddy, since he writes for a magazine and can whip out an article in no time with no edits required.Senior Girl Model Tacoma Stadium High Seattle Photographer Amanda_0019.jpg
Another set of my favorites.  I loved the color tones we achieved in this whole series of images.Senior Girl Model Tacoma Stadium High Seattle Photographer Amanda_0020.jpg
Oh yes, and another favorite!  I wanted a more vintage color palette for this session so I kept that in mind when editing.  I wanted a little warmth, a little on the matte side and a darker, deeper black and white finish for some.Senior Girl Model Tacoma Stadium High Seattle Photographer Amanda_0021.jpg
I have to say, that of all the sessions Amanda and I have done together, this one is my favorite.  We were relaxed and just had fun together.  That sets the mood of the whole session.  Now I’m looking forward to our next one.  We haven’t decided what we are going to do just yet, but I’m excited already!Senior Girl Model Tacoma Stadium High Seattle Photographer Amanda_0022.jpg
