Gustafson Family – Family Portraits

What do you do when it’s cold, rainy and dark outside at 3? You do your photo shoot anyway. With Christmas just around the corner, there is not much room to reschedule and with the PNW weather, rescheduling probably wouldn’t help anyway…. at least not this time of year.

Unfortunately, Shalene (mom) is NOT a cold and rainy weather girl:(, but she toughed it out and I think actually had a little fun in the process. This is one of my FAVORITES. It’s wet, dark, the street light is on, it just looks like the Northwest to me.  I am one of those people who doesn’t mind the colder weather.  I actually prefer it over the heat.  I do worry about my shoots when it rains, but mostly on my client’s behalf.  I am fine shooting in the rain:).

We decided to just embrace what we had to work with and see what we could get. Afterall, it does always rain here, so why not have our portraits reflect the real life of a rugged Northwest family even though Shalene would rather be squishing her toes in some warm sand somewhere.  Just a note, I am willing to travel you know!

I have always wanted to shoot on this bridge when it was raining.  I didn’t know at the time, that the clouds were a hint of a coming wind/rain/thunder storm that hit later this night.

When’s the last time you hung out in a laundry mat and actually had fun?  Chuck, you’re funny!

Since it had gotten even darker and rainier than when we started, we decided to hit the brightest thing we could find, a laundry mat. I have passed this laundry mat before and noticed how bright it is at night. Why not give it a try?  I had willing participants, even though at times, I think they thought I was a little crazy.  I LOVE this series!

These are awesome. Way to take advantage of less than ideal conditions. I especially love the one with the street light. It’s perfect!

Connie – You do amazing, beautiful photos. I didn’t know you were a photographer. I am not sure if you remember me from years ago at PCF, but that is where I first met you and Joe (Jenny Jo Frame), but I have always loved the music you both did and now I have made your website one of my favorites to check back with often. God has truly given you an amazing gift!!!

Hi Jen – thank you so much and I do remember you :) . Joe is the musician, definitely not me :) . I am glad you enjoyed his music. He still plays and loves every minute of it! Thanks for adding me to your favorites!
