I met Misty (far left) a few years back during a photography workshop led by photographer, MeRa Koh. I remember liking her right off the bat. She had striking black hair and big yellow chunky jewelry. It caught my eye. After that initial meeting we saw each other in passing now and then, but didn’t start hooking up until Facebook came along. Since then, we have shared stories, laughed a lot, shot a wedding together, made hair accessories, and photographed for Cake Central Magazine. Just recently we spent part of a day together at her brother and sister-in-law’s farewell party.
The goal: to take family pictures and continue onto the main event, the farewell party.
The day was beautiful. With all the rain we have been having, it was a great treat… or would have been for me if my headache didn’t destroy me for the day! I knew it would be a bad one, but I thought if I just tried to take some medication and ignore it, just maybe it would go away. Nice thought, but it just didn’t happen.
I gave it my best though, taking pictures of the family first, then capturing the guests as they arrived and started to mingle.
Before Nate could even give his farewell speech my headache got the best of me and I had to leave. As we pulled around the corner Joe had to stop for me to… um, you know… then again right before we got home, then again several more times before the night was over.
Luckily there were other cameras there that took plenty of pictures after I left.![]()
Nate and Aimee are now in Nashville (just so happens Joe is there right now too), but I still wanted to pay tribute to their day. They are committed to living in Nashville for at least 5 years. Since I wasn’t there for the speech I didn’t get to find out the details of their move, but I am sure it must involve music
.
At the time of the party, they only had 5 days left before they were leaving.
Getting a somewhat normal picture of this family is a bit challenging when you have Nate in the family! You never know what he is up to next, but you can see that his wife is on to him. She knows something is coming!
And she was right!
We finally did get a good one. We had a tough time finding open shade at the house, so we settled for the natural tree look even though the sun did peak through here and there. Sometimes you just have to go with what you have! That’s Misty and Nate’s mom in the middle.
Nate is funny, I mean really funny. Not someone who tries hard to be funny, he just is.

I loved that Misty didn’t take her eyes off the camera when I asked her hubby Jajuan to give her a kiss!![]()

Misty and Nate’s parents were great and made me feel like part of the family.
NOW… Let the party begin! You have to have good food to have a good party!
And there was plenty of good food being prepared.

I love this image. I love how she pops with her colorful outfit against such a neutral background.
Aimee and her friends seemed to be having a great time. Could they be any cuter?!![]()

The Nate Man, Natsteroni, The Natermater, Nateroma…. whenever Nate and I talk to each other we never use our real names, it’s always a series of variations…
Lots came to wish them a farewell. Obviously they are very loved.
And they had a beautiful day to celebrate their new adventure.
Well, that’s all I got for ya this time… so sorry I couldn’t capture the entire event! Hope all is well in Nashville Nate and Aimee!
xoxoxo until next time…. a wedding to be blogged on Thursday! You won’t want to miss this one!
THE END
