Jessica and Josh – Engagement Portraits

Jessica and Josh are getting married in May and we will be capturing their wedding, but first, the engagement pictures.

When Jessica and I started planning for this we talked about what they liked to do as a couple and what she envisioned for their engagement shoot. There are several options when you have a photo session. You can style it (like a picnic in the park or formal clothes in a field, or you can go on a date and capture everything that happens on the way, or you can just go to lots of different spots and get pics of the two of you cuddling, kissing and just hanging out. Jessica decided on the latter.

They love watching movies together, so we thought it would be perfect to do some in a theater. The Grand Cinema was kind enough to let us into one of their theaters between showings. They even supplied us with popcorn. Jennifer, at the front counter told us they have had weddings and receptions there before too. What a fun idea!

I LOVE THESE!

I love the feel of an old theater. It might not have all the fancies of the bigger ones, but it’s so much cozier and since they have recently remodeled, it now has a much larger lobby to hang out in.

Last weekend was a weekend of great light.  The wedding on Saturday and then this on Sunday… it continued onto Monday for a family shoot (coming to the blog soon).  This area was right around the corner from the Grand Cinema, in the alley of Amanda (my daughter’s) ballet studio.  I have never thought of doing pictures there, but when I’m in photo mode everything becomes a backdrop.Tacoma Engagement Portraits

When’s the last time you dropped to the cold ground and cuddled?  Huh?Tacoma Engagement Portraits

Jessica and Josh are very down to earth people.  They enjoy each other’s company no matter what they’re doing.  Tacoma Engagement Portraits

Jessica had seen this location in other shoots I have done and wanted it in her’s too.  It’s funny since the family I shot the very next day requested it as well.  The lights ARE pretty cool.Tacoma Engagement Portraits

Jessica and Josh spend a lot of time outdoors and wanted that look in some of their photos.  Tacoma Engagement Portraits

Yummy romance.  Part photographer, part therapist – that’s what I am!  Or maybe just a romance coach?  My nickname at my old job was coach from one of my co-workers, I think I have carried that onto this profession as well.  I can get very bossy on a photo shoot hehehe and always demand lots of kissing on an engagement session!Tacoma Engagement Portraits

Our final stop, the beach.  I used to come here a lot, but it has been quite some time since I visited.  They wanted water and I recently was at Owen’s Beach and I do Rustin Way quite often. so we decided to hit Titlow instead.Tacoma Engagement Portraits

The sun glow is always beautiful here.  A perfect way to wrap up the day.  Tacoma Engagement Portraits

Looking forward to the wedding. Thanks for another great engagement session… another one is coming soon, but first I have a family shoot, modeling portfolio pictures and a few seniors to post.  It’s great to be busy! I am truly thankful for that!
